This map shows only the West Bank, not Gaza, and not the whole of Israel. There are approx. 2,000,000 Palestinians living in the West Bank, and over 1,000,000 in the Gaza Strip. The numbered circles are the cities,in sequence, that I visited on my trip. Places are not far apart in kilometres, but very far apart for travel by Palestinians, if they can travel at all. Even for tourists it can take 3 hours to go 40km (24mi). The West Bank is about 50 km (30mi) wide by abourt 120 km (70 mi) long. I traveled entirely by taxi or "shuttle bus," a kind of van/minibus that waits until full (10 to 14), and then takes off dropping people off along the way.
