Some articles and links relating to my grandson Lee Onyszchuk. Lee left Athabasca, Alberta, October 9 and will return on November 1, 2002. He will be with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) assisting Palestinians to get past violent and armed Jewish settlers to harvest olives. He and his group are having some success.

This article has some references to the "the tiny neighboring Palestinian village of Yasuf." That's where Lee was sent out by the ISM, and spent several days and nights with Palestinian farmers. The settlers from the nearby settlement of Tapuah right by Yasuf were the ones that had been shooting at the Internationals and the Palestinians. Why is there never anything like this in the Edmonton Journal? Know who owns the Journal? "Izzy" Israel Asper of Winnipeg, who owns now 60% of Canada's print media. A committed Zionist whose papers carry nothing derogatory of the foreign country of Israel, and nothing sympathetic to the oppressed Palestinians

This is the best news to come out of the Olive Harvest Campaign yet.

Some background and a map of Yasuf
The date on the map at this site is July 2000, but little will have changed since then except for more harassment of the Palestinian landowners, and encroachment on their land. Dan Swan has done a great job of documenting this Yasuf episode. You really should look at his site: West Bank Journal One of his quotes is so good I will replay it here:

As we waited, a shouting match ensued between the settlers and the farmers. I asked someone to translate for me. Aparrently, the farmer asked why they were stealing his land, to which the settler replied "God gave us this land". The farmer replied "My father gave me this land".
