This is a cutout from the May 2002 map, JEWISH SETTLEMENTS IN THE WEST BANK, produced by B'TSELEM - The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. I also have the original PDF file for you to down load (1610KB). Note the areas in black, dark blue, light blue, and red are controlled by Israel, making up 58% of the West Bank.
This map is not up-to-date. Since May of 2002 there have been more confiscations of Yanoun land. Israel law states that if land is fallow for three years the government may assume ownership, and this means it can only be sold or leased to Jews. The fact that Israeli law does not apply to the West Bank doesn't bother Israel. All of Palestine was unused by Jews for almost 2000 years, yet every Jew has a right come back and assume ownership of land. |

The Itamar settlement, with a huge influx of money from the United States, expanded to the east enveloping Yanoun, between 1993 and 2002. The terrorism started in 1996 with the vicious attack on an old man, Abu Najah, who was tending his flock of sheep near his home in Yanoun. To see where the incidents occurred, and a narrative of each you can bring up the Abu Latif Map. |
