The brown area in the foreground is the cropland that remains after most of the land of Yanoun was confiscated over the years by Jewish settlers. Most of the 50 acres or so are used to grow wheat for making the delicious wholewheat flatbread eaten at every meal. One of the houses in the lower row on the hill belongs to Rashid's brother who teaches English in Saudi Arabia. It is set aside for use by the internationals who come to stay in Yanoun.
