Map Station 3: Gold Creek
According to the Stuarts' diary, Plummer and Reeves arrived at Gold Creek September 18. Granville Stuart and Reece Anderson mended Henry's double-barreled shotgun, which had broken at the grip coming through the timber from Elk City. Plummer and Reeves left Gold Creek September 21, heading for the Beaverhead mines, which is what the Grasshopper diggings were called. Reeves very likely went over to Bannack at that time, but Plummer took the Mullan Road over the Continental Divide and down the Missouri to Fort Benton. Plummer planned to return to the States after being in the West for 10 years. You may view the actual DIARY ENTRIES. |
