R. E. Mather, a native of Spokane, Washington, received a B.A. and M.A. from Brigham Young University and did doctoral work at University of Mississippi. She has taught at Boise State University, College of the Redwoods, Yonsei University in Korea, and University of Maryland of the Far East. She is also a professional genealogist, whose family tree includes Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln, William Clark of Lewis and Clark, and Cotton Mather. With writer F. E. Boswell, she has coauthored four Western history books: HANGING THE SHERIFF, JOHN DAVID BORTHWICK, GOLD CAMP DESPERADOES, and VIGILANTE VICTIMS. Her historical articles have appeared in numerous journals, magazines, and encyclopedias, and her first novel, THE COTTONWOOD MURDERS: UNSOLVED is scheduled for publication in 1998. She is included in WHO'S WHO IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST and WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA and will be included in 1998 editions of WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD and DICTIONARY OF INTERNATIONAL BIOGRAPHY, published in Cambridge, England.
