Plummer tried to-day before a jury and "honorably acquitted", the man shot having been proved a desperado and outlaw, said to have belonged to Watkins's band in California and who had pursued Plummer for purpose of taking his life, said Plumer having served as an officer in California, to the detriment of said Watkins's schemes. The other two prisoners, Charley Reeves and Moore, also Bill Mitchell, still in custody. Was notified to appear at court in morning as one of forty eight jurors, from whom twelve are to be chosen, to try case of Mitche11. Friday, January 23. Was chosen one of twelve jurymen, from the forty eight of yesterday, in morning, and sat on case of Mitchell all day. Verdict returned this evening and sentenced to banishment for two years beyond one hundred miles of mines. Evidence showed him a man of "reckless conduct". Saturday, January 24. Spent day at home. Cases of Reeves and Moore tried before a jury. H.M.M. on jury. Sunday, January 25. Verdict rendered in case of Reeves and Moore, which was that they were guilty of manslaughter in the first degree.
